How to Check a Throwaway Email for a Verification Code

Choose an address length, copy the generated address, and enter it only on a service that permits temporary email. After requesting a code, return to this browser and select Check inbox. Give the sender a little time to deliver before refreshing again.

Check the sender, subject, and surrounding message before using a code. Tempburn may identify a possible 4–8 digit code in plain text, but it cannot verify that the code is correct or still valid. Messages are shown as plain text; remote images, links, and attachments are not opened for you.

Use a Throwaway Email for a One-Time Signup

A separate address can keep a permitted trial signup, public forum registration, or one-time download away from your everyday inbox. It does not stop a sender from collecting information you submit, and it cannot guarantee that a website will accept the address or preserve the resulting account.

Before you use one, check the site’s terms and ask whether you will need the account later. A temporary inbox is a poor fit for subscriptions, purchases, billing notices, password resets, or anything you may need to recover.

Send Yourself a Test Message

The test action opens your mail application with this address filled in. You choose a sender account and send the message yourself; Tempburn only receives mail. If no mail app opens, copy the address and send from a mail service you control.

Discard the Address After Your Task

Discard the inbox as soon as you have the message you need. This immediately revokes access in the current browser and queues online cleanup, which has a fifteen-minute operational target. Provider backups may follow a separate retention period.

A discarded address cannot be restored or reused. If you do nothing, a standard inbox becomes unavailable eight days after creation; do not wait for expiry if you want to end access sooner.

Why a Verification Email May Not Arrive

First confirm that you copied the full address, are viewing the same browser session, and that the inbox has not expired. Select Check inbox and allow time for the sender to deliver. Some services block temporary domains, while others delay or reject a message before it reaches Tempburn.

A sender’s “sent” status does not prove that Tempburn accepted or processed the message. If a test message from an account you control also fails, the receive domain or mail route may need operator attention. Do not send us message contents or verification codes when reporting a delivery issue.

Throwaway Email vs. Disposable Email vs. Temp Mail

Throwaway email usually describes an address used for one short task, such as a signup or verification code. Disposable email describes the broader pattern of creating an inbox, using it, then discarding it. Temp mail is a casual shorthand for temporary email services. The phrases overlap; there is no universal technical standard that separates them.

Services still differ in important ways. An inbox may be public or tied to a browser session; it may last minutes, hours, or days; and some services can send or forward while others only receive. Check access, retention, and sending limits before using an address.

Tempburn is a receive-only inbox tied to the browser session that created it. It expires after eight days unless you discard it earlier. These labels do not guarantee that a third-party site will accept an address or let you recover an account later.

What to Do If the Site Rejects a Throwaway Address

First confirm that the site blocked the address itself. If the address was accepted but a code is delayed, check the spelling, wait briefly, and refresh the inbox. Repeated code requests can trigger a site’s own limits.

If another attempt is allowed, create a fresh address. If a different Tempburn domain is available, it may be treated differently, but Tempburn does not guarantee acceptance and may not offer a domain picker. If the same domain is blocked, stop retrying it.

For an account you need to keep, use an email address or alias you control and follow the site’s rules. You can also ask its support team which address types it accepts. Do not disguise an address to bypass a restriction; a sender’s “sent” status also does not prove that a message reached this inbox.

How Long Should You Keep a Throwaway Inbox?

Keep the inbox only while you need the one-time message. Once you have verified what you need, use Discard to revoke browser access and queue online cleanup; the operational cleanup target is fifteen minutes, while provider backups may follow a separate retention window.

If you are still waiting for a permitted message, you can keep the inbox temporarily, but it becomes unavailable after eight days. Discard it sooner when you are done. Use a lasting address for follow-up notices, billing, password resets, or account recovery.
